54th Northern Great Plains History Conference

Brandon University, September 25–28, 2019

The 54th Northern Great Plains History Conference will be held in Brandon, Manitoba, on Treaty 2 territory, the traditional homelands of the Dakota, Anishanabek, Oji-Cree, Cree, and Métis peoples, September 25–28, 2019.

Proposals for individual papers and complete sessions in all fields of history – around the globe and across time – are encouraged.  This year, the Northern Great Plains Conference will be held in conjunction with the Western Canadian Studies Conference and we particularly encourage papers that explore or compare Indigenous and settler colonial experiences of the northern grasslands on both sides of the international boundary.

Please email proposals to James Naylor (Naylor@BrandonU.ca) by April 12, 2019, indicating “NGPHC” in the subject line.  The Northern Great Plains History Conference welcomes graduate and undergraduate student participants.  As such, prizes will be awarded to the best graduate paper and the best undergraduate paper.

Individual paper proposals must include a one-paragraph abstract and a one-page CV. Session proposals will include a session abstract, a one-paragraph abstract for each presenter, and a one-page CV for everyone in the session.  Proposals for roundtable sessions will include a session abstract and a one-page CV for everyone.  Please indicate any AV requirements.

People willing to chair sessions, or serve as commentators, are encouraged to email James Naylor (Naylor@BrandonU.ca).

See you in Brandon!
